Mary entering the cave was inspired by my visit to the caves near Rennes le Château, in southern France where the rock formations reminded me of a sacred earth womb. This particular rock formation which takes the form of female genitalia has an entrance into a cave which is known to be a mystical portal where legend says Magdalene spent time in.
l imagined Mary Magdalene walking along the path to the caves entrance to commune with the energies of earth and the celestial realms. Many people now adays and in the past have entered this cave, to meditate including myself last year.
I wanted to convey the erotic nature of birth and female sexuality as primordial, and beckoning. The primal sun feeds its life force energy into the cave. The scene is one of magic, blessings and connection to primordial forces through mysticism.
